Changing The Language From Mental Health Awareness To : "Mental Health Acceptance"
See what our families describe what "Mental Health Acceptance" means to them...
Stop judging!
Knowing it's a long road that you do not have to travel alone.
We have been dealing with mental health disorders before the pandemic. Welcome to our world!
With acceptance there is ACTION!
Be intentional about self- care.
My child has a voice and is not just a number, not just another statistic, not just another survey. What impact are you making in my child's life after you receive the data?
My child should feel like he/she is valued at school. Understand, accept, and support their diagnosis.
Stop saying there is a stigma when it comes to mental illness. It is discrimination not a stigma.
Accept the fact that my child is not perfect! No one is Perfect!
Therapy is good if linked to the right therapist.
Parents/caregivers - - it is okay to say you are tired and need a break.
Awareness is not enough. Action is needed. Enough with the buzzwords!
My child is not bad. My child is not a criminal. I am not a "bad" parent. My child has a disorder.
There are different levels of mental health - - it is not a one size fits all.
